Zo Houd Je Je Kamerplanten Gelukkig in de Herfst en Winter

How to Keep Your Houseplants Happy in Fall and Winter

Just as we sometimes take a step back during the darker months, your houseplants also need a period of rest. But how do you ensure they stay healthy? Here are five simple tips to help your plants get through the fall and winter.

  • Water less. Plants grow more slowly in autumn and winter and are therefore less thirsty. Always check the potting soil before watering. If it feels dry, you can water it a little. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so be careful.
  • Provide sufficient light. The days are shorter, and your plants are missing sunlight. Place them closer to a window, but beware of cold drafts. Rotate your plants regularly so that all sides get enough light. Consider a grow light if your plants are really not getting enough daylight.
  • Stop feeding your plants temporarily. Plants need less energy during autumn and winter. Don't feed them again until spring. Try our Nature Nest Plant Food, for example, to give your plants a growth boost.
  • Remove dead leaves. Carefully trim away dead or damaged leaves. This keeps your plants neat and allows them to focus their energy on healthy parts.
  • Maintain good humidity. Heating can make the air very dry, which isn't good for your plants. Place a bowl of water near the heater or use a humidifier to maintain the humidity.

These tips will help your plants get through the dark days, so they can grow and shine again in spring. Browse our collection and products at Nature Nest to make your plant care even easier.
